VHF Active Loop Antenna

Variation of the original loop antenna, this version gives good reception from 20 MHz up to 150 MHz.

Use with Bias Tee circuit from original loop.

The plastic loop is a child's "Hula Hoop" of around  85 to 92 cm diameter, with the wire thread through it.

Coil L1 is a moulded plastic inductor equivalent to a TOKO S18 Violet inductor, L2 is 7 turns of enamel copper wire wound over the S18, see images below. There is no ferrite core in the inductor. 

If a S18 coil can not be had, the coils can be wound over the a section of a plastic biro.
